FABCO

Houston

Houston is the home of FABCO, a subsidiary of Carlo Inc. Located near the Gulf of Mexico, Houston is the largest city in Texas and the 4th-largest city in the country, with a population over 6.3 million in the greater metro area. It’s the most diverse city in Texas and one of the most diverse in the US.

Houston consistently ranks among the best places to live and work in the US.

Houston’s economy is built on energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, biomedical research, and transportation. In addition to oil and natural gas extraction and refining, the city is also a leader in producing oil field equipment. It’s the home of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world with 21 hospitals, 8 specialty institutions, 8 academic and research institutions, 6 nursing schools, 4 medical schools, and several other health-related institutions. The Port of Houston is one of the largest in the world, with more than 200 million tons of cargo passing through every year. Houston is also a hub of the aeronautics industry – including NASA’s Johnson Space Center, home of Mission Control.

Houston’s Museum District draws in more than 7 million visitors every year and it’s one of the few cities in the US with permanent, resident companies in all of the major performing arts – the Houston Ballet, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, and The Alley Theater. It also has teams in every major professional sport except hockey – the Astros, the Rockets, and the Texans.

The city consistently ranks among the best places to live and work in the US. It was the first major city to regain the jobs lost during the Great Recession and is home to more Fortune 500 company headquarters than anywhere but New York City.
